Summerwind Standard Poodles
Summer was born on 12/29/06 and arrived at Summerwind on 4/21/07. Summer is a beautiful puppy with great structure, movement and personality. She also has a beautiful face and expression, long neck, beautiful tight feet, short back and proper tail set and shows all the attitude to be a great show puppy. Since Summer's arrival, she has been nothing but a pleasure and everyday is a delight with her.

If you have a poodle with seizures/epilepsy, please consider contacting Barbara Licht who is a research psychologist at Florida State University in Tallahassee. She has been conducting research designed to understand the inheritance of epilepsy in poodles. The goal is to identify the gene (or genes) that contribute to epilepsy in poodles. This will enable them to develop a test that breeders can use to test breeding stock prior to breeding to identify who is "carrying" the epilepsy gene. Barbara's email is: blicht@psy.fsu.edu

All breeds have health issues and the Standard Poodle is no exception. Whatever breeder you are considering, they should be willing to show you health testing documents. Of course there are no guarantees you won't ever have an issue, but purchasing a puppy from health tested parents is an advantage you want to have.
